Miss Calloway's class learned about Utah’s physical geography, including mountains, canyons, valleys, rivers, and deserts, and talked about how these landforms affect where people live and build communities. They then got put this knowledge into action with a hands-on learning project. Students were assigned a family and they had to be a geographer and find the best place for them to live based on the family they were assigned. Using salt dough, they created their own model of that place in Utah, adding physical features as well as things people build, like roads, buildings, and communities.
Thank you to the many parents who made salt dough. We couldn't have done it without you!
